  • These booking terms and conditions apply for anyone entering the Lakes Divide CLASSIC 2024, for the full duration of the event. The Lakes Divide [the event] is hosted by Pointeer LLP [the organiser, we]. By entering the event, you [the participant, or lead participant if booking on behalf of others] agree to the below terms and conditions, and that the decisions of the organiser are final.

    0 / The Event

The Lakes Divide is a two-day, hosted, social trail-run from Keswick to Kendal - the event is not a race; it is not timed. The route is 72KM and uses a mix of public footpaths, access-land trails, and public highway pavements. It is split into two stamped stages, over two days. The organiser will supply a GPX file, beacon/sweep runners and hosted feed stops (checkpoints), but the route is not fully waymarked; participants will be required to navigate themselves and be somewhat self-supported for both stages.

    1/ Booking/Pricing

There are four options for entering the event: Standard Entry - £219; Standard Pairs Entry - £428.00 (Save £10); Trio Entry - £627.00 (Save £30); Quad Entry - £816 (Save £60). We also have an option for joining the overnight camp: Partner/Family/Friend Entry - £49.00 (this does not include any running stages).

Participants must enter and register via our website.

    2/ The Route - Challenge/Hazards/Risks/Comms

Trail-running and camping are inherently risky. Lakes Divide routes and overnight camping locations have been fully recced, risk-assessed, and deemed suitable by the organisers. Participants enter the Lakes Divide at their own risk. Prior to the event, communication between organiser and participant should be via email; during the event, communication should be via Whatsapp. Participants must stick to the organiser’s Lakes Divide GPX route. There are sections of canal paths, public highway pavements, and public highways. Participants must obey all Highway Code rules, and not stray from designated footpaths and trails. Participants agree that they are physically and mentally able to cover the Lakes Divide route, within the organiser’s pacing requirements. The organiser reserves the right to edit the Lakes Divide route at any time.
During the event, if a participant chooses to leave the Lakes Divide route they understand that all consequences of this action are borne by them, and they must inform the organiser. This includes participants that leave the event entirely.
In a non-emergency situation, participants should contact the organiser.
In an emergency situation, participants should ring the emergency services.
Participants are responsible for any fees or costs that result from any searches, or accidents.

    3. Briefing(s)

Participants are expected to read the pre-event information emails, to sign-on and attend the mandatory start briefing in Keswick.

    4. Running Kit

The organisers have prepared a Mandatory and Suggested kit list for running the Lakes Divide. You agree to carry all mandatory items, and seriously consider the suggested items.

    5. Overnight Equipment

The organisers have prepared a Mandatory and Suggested kit list for the Lakes Divide overnight. You agree to bring all mandatory items, and seriously consider the suggested items. These don’t need to be carried on the run; we will transfer for you.

    6. Allergies/Dietary Requirements/Medical Conditions

Participants must disclose any allergies, dietary requirements or medical conditions when requested. Participants with medical conditions that knowingly require certain treatments must carry them for the duration of the event. We can hold items at feed stops (roughly half-way through each day) if you’d like/need - please let the organiser know.

    7. Behaviour

Participants, at all times, should conduct themselves in a manner that does not discredit themselves or the organisers. Participants must be considerate and respectful to other trail users, and the countryside that the Lakes Divide navigates. Lakes Divide is a Trash Free Trails Approved event. Participants must not drop or leave any litter anywhere, at any time. We will happily accept any litter, within reason, at feed stops. If we see any littering in action, we will be forced to ask you to leave the event.

    8. The Overnight

The event’s overnight stay is at a stunning camp in Langdale, where we will have communal, covered, social spaces, and dedicated camping pitches. There will be rivers, shower and toilet facilities. Participants are required to pitch in the event’s designated area, are responsible for their own camping setups, and agree to adhere to any rules of the camp.

    9. Media

The organisers will document Lakes Divide. Each participant hereby grants the organiser (and their partners) the perpetual right to use and publish all Lakes Divide content in any and all media. Participants release the organiser of all liability from such use, and waive any right to any compensation for appearing in any of the words/photographs/film/video recorded at Lakes Divide.

    10. Possessions

The organiser cannot be held responsible for any personal possessions during the course of the event - including items on participants, with the organiser, or at the overnight camp. This includes any vehicles.

    11. Cancelling/Refunds

If you cancel: Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for the event, but we are happy to accept a transfer to another person (providing they accept these booking conditions) or date. Please notify us as soon as possible with any information changes. We can try contacting an event waiting list on your behalf, if you need.

If we cancel: We reserve the right to postpone / reschedule or cancel the event at any time, in the unlikely event that weather conditions are deemed dangerous, or due to any other reason that makes the event unviable. In this situation, if prior to the event, we will transfer participant’s entries to a rescheduled date, or offer credit to the organiser’s future events. The organiser cannot be responsible for any associated travel costs.

Any refunds we make will be minus any sunken fees (typically 10-15% of entry).

    12. Insurances

The event will have relevant insurances, but it is the responsibility of participants to ensure they have personal insurance for any issues that might arise outside of the organiser’s responsibilities or remit - participants not being able to attend the event last-minute, or non-UK citizens needing personal medical insurance, for example.

  • Lakes Divide Day One: Keswick - Langdale - is 29KM (18 Miles)

Lakes Divide Day Two: Langdale-Kendal - is 43KM (26.5 Miles)

These might sound like big distances, but see it as just spending the day outdoors!

Once broken down into stages they make a good, accessible challenge for all; a super step onto the next stage in your running.

Don’t expect to be running the whole 72KM - there are hills, or points where you will tire, and there is nothing wrong with walking sections; most people do.

That said, we do need you to maintain a pace throughout the day, because we don’t want runners on the remotest sections in the dark - not least because it is one of the highlights to see!

It’s worth factoring a few pauses, on Day 1 at least. To put the distances into perspective:

→if shuffling at the steadiest pace (4.5-5KPH) - you’ll be out for 6-7 hours on Day 1, arriving into Langdale at 16:00ish … and 8-9 hours on Day 2, arriving into Kendal at 16:00ish.

→if hot-footing at a decent pace (6-7KPH) - you’ll be out for 5-6 hours on Day 1, arriving into Langdale at 15:00ish … and 6-7 hours on Day 2, arriving into Kendal at 15:00ish.

→if you’re putting your foot down, and not slowing/stopping much (8-10KPH) - you’ll be out for 4 hours on Day 1, arriving into Langdale at 13:30ish … and 5 hours on Day 2, arriving into Kendal at 14:00ish.

  • This is presuming you’ll turn up to the start in Keswick in footwear suitable for trail running (a right mix of on and off road in this case) and your favourite running outfit. On top of that you'll need:
